So. I really love cooking. I like the ingredients. I like to buy them, prepare them, and consume them. Also, the steps it takes in purchasing and preparing, makes me feel better about eating whatever creation it is I come up with. However, there are times when I also LOVE to go out and experience new things in the food realm. Something I find myself doing often is comparing the food I eat at a restaurant to similar food I have cooked. Vice Versa, I love going to restaurants and getting items I would not necessarily consider combining to see how others make use of different ingredients.
The point is that tonight I am going to have pizza here at Brix in Fort Worth, TX. I thought I would make this post because recently I have experimented making two different types of pizza. It’s mostly about the combination of ingredients for me. I’m super picky about this in my own cooking. To me there are some things that go together and some that don’t. There are little groupings in my head of things that taste good together, they are sort of organized by different types of ethnicity. I love Mexican, Greek, Lebanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, American, etc etc..you get the point, but I don’t use artichokes in pho. Normally it is not to that degree, but anyways here are some delights that I thought went together phenomenally.
Pizza numero UNO…
A jazzed up version of the classic Margherita…mostly because we had home grown tomatoes and other assorted veggies…don’t worry they will be denoted.
tomatoes-homegrown
banana peppers-homegrown
basil-homegrown
LOTS of Mozzarella
olive oil
Aceitunas–olives mmmm
Pizza numero due…
I bought two crusts…yes I know BOUGHT, mostly in the interest of time. However, the Pilsbury refrigerated thin crust worked really well. So I had to make another! This one, not quite as gourmet as the last as far as homegrown ingredients go but it was still delish AND all the ingredients were things I just had in my kitchen.
Here Goes…
Black bean and salsa made into spread
carmelized onion, bell pepper and garlic in balsamic and olive oil
goat cheese—<3
mozzarella
cilantro
lime juice
Let me tell you they were both amazing and sooooo easy even my boyfriend could do it 😉 JK he's a great cook!
If anyone actually read all of that the point was that tonight I think I will try the Christina's Favorite Pizza at Brix tonight consisting of Eggplant, Go
